Fontana Automotive was founded by J.A. Fontana in 1988, utilizing a 5,000 square foot building in Gardena, California.
The initial endeavor involved the design and manufacturing of an Aluminum Ford 351 block called the Clevor. In August of 1989, the company’s product line expanded with the acquisition of a 4 cylinder engine unique to the Midget circle track racing application. The design was a proprietary aluminum block and aluminum head which became and immediate success.
Extensive development efforts during the last 17 years have resulted in a product base that is recognized as the premier racing engine in the industry.
